THE PROGRAMME OF THE 14th EDITION OF PARISCIENCE
INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL
The general public, students and professionals are invited to discover movies made for the big screen, TV documentaries, short films, scientific web videos and virtual reality programs. The festival aims to present diverse and innovative writing and to offer exclusive experiences to an ever-growing audience.
Through its programming, Pariscience’s goal is to bear witness to the state of the world today and to help its audience better understand and decipher it in order to increase awareness of scientific issues.
THEMATIC 2018 : SCIENCE & POWER
Science keeps pushing the boundaries of our world: our understanding of the universe, of medicine or the environment… It is, at the same time, omnipresent in our everyday lives and essential to our understanding of the great challenges of our time.
Since scientific knowledge can act as a liberating force, some of the films selected this year will explore the close and often tense relationship between science and power, from the beginning of the 20thcentury to the present day. In authoritarian regimes, science has often been misused, sometimes at the cost of millions of lives.
Our selection will also present a large choice of diverse scientific topics: youth’s commitment to protecting the environment, space exploration, ethical debates on genetic manipulation or artificial intelligence…
Fundamental questions to ask in order to start building tomorrow’s world.
